Also if you really want to learn most deaf people are so happy that you are interested in learning and will be super patient and work with you. 

And it’s a really great thing to be able to do for any job because imagine having to go everywhere with someone that can translate for you or with paper to write or trying to read lips and just going to grab a cup of coffee and Hey, the barista knows sign language. They aren’t great but you get to speak with them and order your coffee in the way that’s natural to you like that would just make your day. Or a teacher that can talk and sign so classes don’t have to divide?? Or a therapist that can sign?? Hearing people signing 2k15 honestly.

Plus sign language is simpler and faster to learn than written/spoken languages. And there are lots of resources online for any language you may want to learn:

• School of Sign Language is great for British Sign Language (BSL)
  
• ASLU looks less fancy but it’s great and super complete for learning American Sign Language(ASL)
• Comunicación en LSE tiene unos video para los básicos muy básicos en Lengua de Signos Española (LSE)
• I aquí hi ha una complicació ja feta d’on aprendre Llengua de Signes Catalana (LSC)

And you can always google for Deaf/Hard of hearing places/centers in your city and go ask, most of them offer free or really affordable courses

I had to break down and make a gofundme so I can help pay rent for this month. I hate it so much but I literally have no other choice. Please please help! If you guys have any questions i will have no problem at all answering them. The info is below.

Hello everyone. My name is Britnee’ and I am 16 years old.  I am also known as the creator of Krabby-kronicle on tumblr. I absolutely hate it that I have to do this but I don’t really have any other choice. This is going to be pretty scrambled so I apologize if anything confuses you. My mom has been a single mother for a very long time which means we’ve struggled for so many years. She is disabled and can’t work. She had a surgery back in 2010 but it only seemed to make her back worse. The last time she had an MRI (which was around 2014), they said she had 3 or 4 bulged/herniated disks in her lower back. They also diagnosed her with degenerative disc disease (DDD). We were on disability at one time but then a judge ruled that she could work so they took our disability. She has appealed the decision. My mom can’t work a 9-5 job. She has to constantly take breaks and stand and sit all the time. We have tried to apply for jobs but they never call her back. She currently babysits my baby cousin. We get paid $20 a day for taking care of him and we obviously can’t live off that because we only watch him around 4-5 days a week. Hopefully it will become more days.
This month has to be the worst possible. We currently moved into a new home that cost $1200 to move in($600 deposit and $600 rent) We were kicked out of our other home. My boyfriend payed for the new place with the last of his savings. My mom currently went through a divorce/custody battle which ended up making our $350/month child support go down to $25/week. We couldn’t afford a lawyer so she had to stand for herself. The judge also ruled that my 2 little brothers stay with their dad every other week. My brothers are 8 and 7 years old.
We currently get around $500/month, but I believe its going down to $350 because my ex stepdad lied and said that both my brothers lived with him. We only let him claim one of them yet he claimed both. We also get $250-$350/month from my father. It varies every month to where it adds up to $3,600/year.
Our rent is currently $600/month. We have applied for section 8 housing but the last time we checked, we were #20 on the list.
I started working on a vegetable farm on June 9th, 2016. I was making good money ($8/hr), enough to get by. I worked about 30 hours a week. My bosses then laid us off without warning. Literally they just told us on July 29th, “we’ll call you when we need you back”. That was very heartbreaking for me because it is very difficult to get a job at 16. Since the day I was laid off, I have applied for literally everything that I could think of. It’s very difficult because I’m not old enough to work at Walmart, dollar store, etc. because I can’t sell alcohol or cigarettes. My boyfriend is also trying to get a job but he doesn’t turn 18 until September 14th, which, again, its hard for people to even glance at a teen’s application. I’m doing everything I can to keep a roof over my family’s head and I feel that I’m failing. I’ve even thought about selling my things so we can get some money, but my mom won’t let me.

The money donated would be used for paying rent and/or pay bills (lights,water, etc.). I will make sure that this will all go towards this. I will keep up with the funds and not let anyone touch it. We need this money by September 5th, at the latest. Please don’t call me names or anything. This is very important to me and I’m already embarrassed that I have to do this. I have to say this, if you do not have the funds to donate, please don’t donate, I understand that you would like to help but your life comes before mine.
